(test4)Promoting R&D of Devices for Regenerative Medicine
- Installation of 'Satellite Lab' at the International Science Innovation Building in Kyoto University -

ARKRAY, Inc. have set up a new 'satellite lab' at the International Science Innovation Building, which is the new operations site for the COI (Center of Innovation) Program.*1 By setting up a laboratory within Kyoto University, which serves as a central institution for the research of regenerative medicine, we will work towards further advancing our research & development of devices for regenerative medicine.

ARKRAY, Inc. (ARKRAY hereafter) have set up a 'satellite lab' at the International Science Innovation Building, the new site for COI program operations. Completed in March 2015, the International Science Innovation Building was constructed across approximately 12,000 m2 within the premises of Kyoto University and aims to provide a space for all enterprises participating in the COI program to conduct research and development under one roof. The opening ceremony will take place on May 25 (Mon).

Upon being selected in 2013 for MEXT's program to drive radical innovation, entitled COI STREAM, ARKRAY is participating at the COI with the aim of promoting the research of regenerative medicine. In the COI we are serving as the leader of Group 4 (advanced medical care) from the Last 5X Innovation R&D Center,*2 which aims to achieve a more active society. We are engaged in the research and development of regenerative medical devices, and aim to achieve reduced production costs targeting a large variety of applications as well as further refining our medical expertise in order to successfully provide advanced medical care.

With the COI's support we succeeded in October 2014 in the development of the ultra small equipment for the culturing of human iPS cells from a single cell.

ARKRAY will continue to contribute to the field of advanced medical care through the further development of systems that provide support for diagnosis and treatment using regenerative medicine.

*1 A collaboration between industrial, government and academic institutions that features more than 40 participating companies. The collaboration is based at Kyoto University as the core institution.

*2 A project whereby universities and enterprises can overcome differences in their respective specialized fields and industry types, and cooperate on research and development. By working within the fields of sensor networks for life security, which are sustained by cordless power transmission and advanced ICT technology, along with preventive, preemptive and advanced medicine, the project aims to create a flexible and accommodating society in which citizens pursue new challenges throughout their entire lives whilst retaining dignity as individuals and enjoying a sense of fulfillment.
